Graycen Bolton • Seventeen • Junior • TAKEN you make it hard to smile because you make it hard to breathe How would one describe Graycen Bolton? Well one thing’s for sure. He has his mothers curls. He’s handsome, smart, outgoing, and just an all around wonderful guy. Like their father, the Bolton family could be considered as the golden children, sitting at the top of the social chart. They were all East High Stars. TJ mostly, considering he was the oldest of the kids. Graycen was the top of his junior class. Along side his best friend, Peter Baylor and David Williams. Those three were always inseparable.  He played on the school’s football team as a quarterback. He had amazing grades,  and an amazing girlfriend, Tessa Williams. She was beautiful. Guys and even a few girls envied him for it. That he was able to steal the lovely Tessa Williams heart. But this was Graycen Bolton we’re talking about. Capturing girls hearts since 1994. Tessa and Graycen just fit so perfectly together. Well in Tessa’s eyes they did. Students and even faculty members considered them the ‘it’ couple. They started dating in 10th grade. Still going strong a year later. Or that’s what everyone thinks. They’ve been having pointless arguments, constantly these past few weeks. It drove Graycen mad. He couldn’t handle it most of the time. That brings us to one more very important person in Graycen’s life. Adam James. East High students wouldn’t dare mention Adam and Graycen’s name in the same sentence. At least not when they’re around. No one knows why they despise each other, just that they do. But that’s just for show. A few months ago, Tessa had a party. Everyone who was anyone showed up. Adam was there, obviously. Him and Tessa were best friends. Which probably made Graycen’s situation worse. Things led to another, from one drink to two and the next morning, Graycen woke up naked…. right next to Adam. They promised to never speak of it again, but before Graycen had decided to leave, Adam kissed him. It was more of a peck, but it drove Graycen off edge. Whenever Graycen needed to blow off steam, he’d call Adam. And a drive to Adam’s house later, they’d already have been stripped. Something about Adam, Graycen just can’t stay away from. He hates to hurt Tessa like this, but he wouldn’t be able to come out. He wasn’t sure if he was gay, or what. He was attracted to girls for sure. But Adam James is special. If the school found out, he’d be a laughing stock. He was the golden boy and wasn’t going to give that up anytime soon.  Other than his crazy situation, Graycen had a passion for music. He loved to sing. It made him feel alive. He’s been singing in competitions since he was younger. His voice was beautiful and angelic. Whenever he wasn’t with Tessa, his mates, or Adam, he’d be somewhere around music. Someday he wanted to be in the show business and sell out concert tickets. Until then, it was just a silly dream.
